Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living is committed to responding to the needs of the community and in order to do this we strive to provide as varied a range of activities as is possible. To make it easier for you to see what we do we have divided our projects up into services.

Diet and Nutrition

We deal with a wide range of dietary issues, from people living off fast food to the needs of those with limited budgets, providing training and information on how to buy and cook healthy foods, weight management and general diet.Click Here

Physical Activity

We provide tutor led exercise sessions and activities that are affordable and accessible and deliver specialist sessions for those with health problems who have been referred to us by their GP.Click Here

Stop Smoking Services

Healthy Living has been commissioned by NHS Blackburn with Darwen to deliver smoking cessation services in Blackburn targeting some of the most deprived communities.Click Here

You're Welcome

All young people are entitled to receive necessary health care wherever they access it. Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living have a team of trained young people who have been involved in setting the criteria and are now evaluating the services throughout East Lancashire.Click Here

Cancer Awareness

The Cancer Awareness Campaigns we run are aimed to get communities, families, friends and colleagues talking about many cancers which are often taboo subjects.Click Here

Community Gyms

Bangor Street Community Centre has two gyms, one male, one female. The gyms have a well organised layout and are fully equiped.Click Here

Community Involvement

Community involvement is at the core of all the work we do. We believe that for our work to be effective we have to be involved with, and respond to, the communities we work with. Community health projects, consultations and the CAT teams all help to provide the service the community wants.Click Here

Health Promotion in Schools

We have close links with schools in the area and have promoted a number of national initiatives in them. We have developed a PSHE package for schools and are currently developing a drama project to deal with health related issues.Click Here
